Pirates...

Let us hope this is the end of this trilogy. POTC:AWE represents the perfect example of Hollywood's desperate need for cash. Instead of developing a story and then a movie, this was the process in reverse. Clearly they wanted a movie and who cares about the story. Who needs a coherent storyline, character development, or even quality acting when you can drown the audience in millions of gallons of water and special effects. POTC: TCBP was a high quality movie because it was clever and brought to the screen something audiences had not seen before. It combined an authentic nature, a flawed yet lovable hero, and action. As moviegoers, we should demand higher quality movie making before the pursuit of money overwhelms and destroys another franchise. Can Ocean's 13 succeed where Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, and Pirates 3 failed? Who knows, but it does have one thing going for it...a second film that set a very low floor.

I thought that the new movie was a good one.

Now Mr. Mcfarland. The bashing of POTC is not completely needed. Yes the last (and final) movie was a bit drawn out, mixed up and completely absurd and I will admit that the swan song of the Pirates didn't leave me in awe. The first installment of the trilogy was, however a well excuted movie, With less special effects and CG animation. The second movie came and (I don't know why but) writers began to use more CG animation and special effects. Which made the Middle man only mediocre. I am one of the biggest fans of any type of movie. I have seen them all as some would say. Which would make me a rather annoying critic, and in my opinon I don't believe that just becase POTC became a downward crashing sprial doesn't mean the whole trilogy is ruined. I would give kudos to your blog if it wasn't so synical. I will still watch the first two in the saga and have a great time following the adventures of the Jack Sparrow, I will just have to avoid the last installment I suppoe. It's all you can do, really.

I agree with Cody on this one. POTC was a great series, not bad enough to be critized like so. And you have to give credit to Shrek 3, for it was a cute kid's movie. It was not supposed to be a 5-star, movie of the year like the scale you put it on.
